I agree that it may be a bit faster, but atleast with the Faction I could save it up for all my characters and get them all through from the Faction just the first one gathered. Annoying that I have to get all these sunspear points for all my characters. I don't like doing the same quests over... and over... and over... I wish there was better variety offered.

I never seemed to have to grind for Luxon or Kurzick faction but I can see where you're at with Balt faction, even with the new double points.

Funny thing is I stopped playing there . It feels so unnessecary to me to have to gather so many points. Feels like a filler in a TV series . I'm not complaining though but I agree with TC . I don't have much time to waste now due to college running around getting points . Maybe it's not even getting the points that's annoying but more that it's boring and a waste of time. As for 10k in factions I didn't mind because it was fun doing those Luxon vs Kurzick battles . The faction could aslo be used for Amber as well which was money and I didn't mind that also. Plus faction was spread out through all your characters .

My Tyrian/Canthan characters will explore/play the game when they go off searching for elites, collectors, challenge missions, or skill merchants. Forcing me to grind sunspear points is a frustrating distraction.

If you are going elite capping as well, it is even easier to get to 2.5k. Just take bounty quests in the areas and kill off the monsters. You often get 700 points per area, so when your elite gathering is ready you are probably well above "general". Just doing some quests, skill capping and mapping got me above 8k.

Lightbringer points are a bit different though

You know, one thing that struck me...

To reach the point in the campaign where Tyrian/Canthan characters enter, Elonian characters have to reach a certain rank - Captain, I believe. However, Tyrian/Canthan characters still have the same responsibility in Consulate Docks as their Elonian equivalents - so wouldn't it make sense for foreigners to be promoted directly to that rank on entering the campaign?

Another thing that was raised earlier this thread: Ascension, especially from Prophecies, really should be worth something. Ascended characters did succeed at something that one of, if not the greatest hero of Elona failed at, after all.

If you just want to get a quick boost, then sure, give all foreigners captain. But if you think about it, a lvl 3 could get run to LA with ease. Does that mean they should be captain too? And as for ascension, any monkey could do it. From LA to Sanctum is easy, then its straight to the desert missions. I'm pretty sure there are people around who have ascended below lvl 5. And its even easier for factions. You could hench it and hide out the back while your lvl 20 henches chew the celestials up.

Plus if you think about it, some stranger jumps off the boat and asks to join your order. Sure, you've heard of him and you seen him beat down demons in LA or Kaineng. But what do you really know about him? Enough to make him a general ahead of locals you've trained and adventured with? Plus the other sunspears, what do they think of just some stranger being promoted ahead of them. If they've seen you around Istan fighting for the order and training with them then they can respect that. Some stranger just show up with nothing more than a rep and they're supposed to just follow blindly?

I got no complaints with having to get ranks. Just training up my heroes and their pets, and traveling from town to town I got like 5k sunspear points. No quests other than missions and primary quests done, so its not like its hard to do. Plus, a lvl 20 and a well planned bunch of heroes can kill pretty much anything very quick. Trust me, you'll soon have more points than you know what to do with.
